Opportunities Credit Union is seeking a responsible person for the role of Financial Educator in our Money Sense Department.
The Financial Educator is responsible for conducting one-on-one financial counseling as well as leading workshops educating Vermonters on the elements of credit ratings, budgeting and financial wellness. This position is also responsible for conducting outreach events and familiarity with other financial counseling resources in the area.
The ideal candidate will have life experience managing their own finances and will enjoy coaching. Knowledge of the financial impacts of renting, home ownership, foreclosure, student loans and collection debt are expected. Multi-lingual ability is a strong plus.
The position also requires client record-keeping and periodic reporting as well as staff meetings, trainings, quality and process reviews.
We are looking for someone with an associate’s degree or equivalent education/experience, at least 2 years of work in housing counseling or equivalent experience.
The job requires use of a vehicle with flexibility to travel throughout Vermont as well as strong computer skills, working knowledge of the primary Microsoft Office programs and the ability to conduct inter-office communication. DMS, Salesforce or Coconut software a plus.
Required: Credit Union National Association (CUNA) Financial Counseling Certification Program within 3 months of employment and Financial Capacity Counseling Certification (or equivalent) within 12 months of employment.
