Home Depot Card Compromise Alert (9/12/14)
The Home Depot has now confirmed that they experienced a data breach of their card systems. The breach affected both credit cards and debit cards used at their stores in the United States and Canada, from April 11, 2014 through September 7, 2014. However, Home Depot continues to investigate to ensure that they have identified all cards that are at risk.
As always, Opportunities Credit Union will contact all affected members, by letter, whose card(s) have been identified by Home Depot as cards that have been compromised, and Opportunities Credit Union will reissue a new card to you. Opportunities Credit Union relies on MasterCard (debit card) to provide the list(s) of affected cards.
Opportunities Credit Union would also like to remind our members to always review your account activity, to ensure that transactions posted to your accounts have been authorized by you. In addition, remember that both the Opportunities Credit Union MasterCard debit cards have a $0 Fraud Liability coverage for any unauthorized transactions.
Shaw’s Data Breach (8/19/14)
We have been notified of a data breach that took place in June and July on credit and debit cards at Shaw’s stores which also include ACME markets, Jewel-Osco, Star Markets and New Albertson’s. This breach was announced publicly on August 15th. We encourage you to monitor your credit card account information and your checking account and will notify you if we see any unauthorized activity.
